Richard began practicing Aikido in 1998 under the direct instruction of Sensei Bob Leigh.

Since staring Aikido Richard has attended a number of seminars in the UK and abroad, training under teachers such as Bill Witt Sensei 7th Dan, Hoa Newens Sensei 6th Dan and Hitohiro Saito Sensei 6th Dan.

Richard has spent time as a Deshi (live in student) at both the Orwell Dojo and the Koriana Dojo in Greece where he trained under the direct instruction of Sensei Tony Sargeant 6th Dan.

Ricahrd obtained his Shodan in 2004 and was awarded his Nidan in 2006 by Sensei Tony Sargeant 6th Dan.

Ricahard currently teaches a class on Thursday evenings from 7:00pm - 8:30pm and Bukiwaza (weapons training) on Saturday's from 2pm - 3:30pm.
